It speaks volumes of the St Joseph’s culture and Daniel Lovick that even in the afterglow of a big win and celebrating 200 games for the club, Lovick was more focused on his side’s output.
“I don’t enjoy doing this stuff,” Lovick laughed speaking to Kix 89.3FM post match.
“We were not happy with last week at all. We set ourselves to atone for that this week, and I think we did that today.”
In game 200, Lovick was at his consummate best intercepting marks at will, zoning off and setting up St Joseph’s attacking thrusts. After two Mathieson Medals and three club best and fairests, his coach Heath Jamieson couldn’t speak highly enough of the rebounding defender.
“He’s an absolute warrior; he’s someone who we’re extremely proud of,” Jamieson said. “It’d be a hard find to find 200 games like his. He leaves everything out there, he’s a joy to watch and have around.”
Lovick believes the three tall forwards was vital to the win over Colac, and will be again in the Grand Final against St Mary’s next week.
“I think if we can continue to do that next week, we might give them a show,” he said.
