It’s definitely not every day that a budding artist submits their work to Triple J unearthed and hears it premiere on Triple J within 12 hours. That was the shocking reality that changed the life of 24-year-old Melbourne based singer, songwriter and music producer, Georgia Flipo – known by her stage name as G-Flip.

Fast forward a year and G-Flip has sung her way into the hearts of many at local and international festivals and sold out three headline Australian tours but has still found the time for songwriting. After countless hours spent cooped up in her bedroom, G-Flip announced this week her first studio album “About Us” is set to be released on August 30, 2019.

As well as announcing her forthcoming 10 track LP, the oversized t-shirt wearing powerhouse has given fans a sneak peek by releasing her first single from the LP, titled ”Stupid”.

Having admitted her songwriting was inspired by her emotions and experiences with an ex-lover, “Stupid” details the heartbreak and toxicity of a relationship that just doesn’t work.

In true G-Flip style, the modern day love song is extremely human and raw, with the main chorus lifting the previous darker verses. Drums introduced in the chorus uplift the song’s character while the lyrics question the unhealthy nature of the relationship and why they keep picking fights when they are in love.

Why we always actin’ stupid? Why we always do this, do this do this to ourselves? Why we always actin’ stupid? I wouldn’t wanna do this shit with anybody else“.

Here it is:

The indie-pop song is both catchy and likely resonates with many girls around the same age. With over 10,000 views on YouTube alone in the first few days, the song is likely to be another hit alongside hits “Drink Too Much” and “About You“.

In a third win for Australian music, G-Flip also announced she will be touring in November this year. Her Melbourne performance will be at The Croxton Bandroom in Thornbury on Friday 15th November. Tickets can be purchased through OzTix.
