The Mid-Autumn Festival (also known as the Full Moon Festival) is an important holiday for Asians after the Lunar New Year, which takes place on the 15th of the eighth lunar month every year. People often celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with traditional activities such as lion dancing, lantern displays and eating moon cake with family. Mid-Autumn Festival Melbourne Chinatown
For people living in the CBD, Chinatown Square celebrates this day with many traditional activities such as lion dancing, workshops, market stalls, food stalls and musical performances. When the sun sets, the square will be lit up with many colourful lanterns. Children who attend will have a chance to try moon cakes and be given a mini lantern for free.

2019 Melbourne Moon Festival – Box Hill
This is Box Hill’s 29th festival and it promises to become another interesting celebration. People will have a chance to enjoy many Chinese traditional dishes as well as buying souvenirs from 60 market stalls. The big stage in Box Hill center will provide musical and lion dance performances. If you want to try the original taste of the moon cake, Box Hill is worth to go.

Richmond Moon Lantern Festival
Richmond will be decorated with lanterns for guests to take photos of and there will be a lantern making class so you can try your hand at making your own.

Full Moon Festival
This is a place to go for southeast residents and for people who love street food. There will be food trucks and stalls selling dishes representing countries such as China, Vietnam, Thailand and Korea. Lion dancing will be performed as well as a big dragon dance.
