Gap Year Gone Wrong


LONDON will forever hold a special place in gap-year student, Maggie Dinneen’s, heart. But for all the wrong reasons.

Having just returned from the lively city and eight months abroad, she is just one of many students who are opting to take a year off to travel and see the world.

She did a Skype interview with a family she thought would be perfect to work for and live with in London, and two months later she said goodbye to her job, her family and friends and took off on a one-way flight to England.

But it was not all rainbows and sunshine.

I sat down with Maggie to talk about what turned out to be one of the worst experiences of her life.
